FULL METAL VILLAGE examines the curious and very amiable clash of two cultures, documenting life in Wacken, a small village in Schleswig-Holstein. The community’s sense of identity and cohesion is now largely derived from the Wacken Open Air, which with 40,000 visitors is one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world. Sung-Hyung Cho, Korean by birth, sketches a portrait of the village and its inhabitants, replete with snippets of farmer’s wisdom, religiousness and provincial beauty; all set against the backdrop of the ever-recurring insanity of the festival.
